As a company in the industrial sector committed to maintaining its pioneering status and its commitment to the authorities of the territory where it is based, the Canary Islands, and to the society of the archipelago as a whole, Asfaltos de Arinaga could not ignore the collective effort that, not only in the Islands, but also from the Spanish Government and the European Union, has been promoted for years in favour of the environment and sustainability.
Effort to which we at ADA are contributing with actions aimed at reducing the carbon footprint in favor of the so-called decarbonization of the industry, virtuous initiatives whose benefits have been recognized by the Government of the Canary Islands itself, offering its support, currently embodied in a financial aid granted to us in the amount of 2,241,872.47 euros.
The Autonomous Community will use this money to help pay for investments aimed at improving our production systems, making them more efficient and, as a result, less polluting, as well as for the incorporation of photovoltaic electricity generation facilities to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
With a total amount of 3,504,834.87 euros, which will be assumed, to a large extent, by the ADA itself, with the rest of the investment coming from its funds, these actions have an execution period set between December 2024 and December 2025.
This means that by the end of 2025, at the latest, Asfaltos de Arinaga plans to continue operating at full capacity while significantly reducing the environmental impact of its production processes.
The Government of the Canary Islands will therefore contribute to this objective by providing assistance under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan promoted by the Spanish Government with the support of funds from the European Union’s Next Generation programme.
This will enable ADA to undertake a project entitled “Energy efficiency measures at the liquid bulk terminal (asphalt bitumen and emulsions) of Asfaltos de Arinaga“.
ADA has decided to improve this plant located at the Arinaga wharf in the municipality of Agüimes, Gran Canaria, in line with the commitment we have always made to remain at the forefront of the sector and technology, as well as to contribute to improving the environment of the Canary Islands and the quality of life of those who live in the archipelago and those who visit it attracted by its natural charms.
