Betting on the future of the planet

At Asfaltos de Arinaga (ADA), a company that actively works for innovation and cutting-edge technology as tools that bring efficiency and quality to its production processes and to the materials and services it offers to its customers, we are aware of the urgent need for the industrial sector to take on a leading role in the commitment to environmental protection that citizens and authorities around the world are seeking to promote as a determining factor in achieving the objectives set out in the crucial common commitment to the future of the Planet at times like the present.

This is why we are firmly committed to policies and initiatives of all kinds aimed at minimising the ecological footprint of industrial processes, especially through measures to reduce the polluting emissions derived from them.

True to this philosophy, we have made this commitment to the future of the Planet one of our hallmarks, joining from the outset the projects for the decarbonisation of the sector promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands and other Public Administrations. This has allowed us to progressively reduce the environmental impact of Asfaltos de Arinaga’s activity.

But our commitment to the environment and the surroundings of the archipelago goes beyond this, as we also contribute to waste recovery actions that are decisive for the establishment of a bio-circular economy, the achievement of which is a doubly complex challenge in the Canary Islands, a fragmented territory far from the mainland.

We are also pioneers in this respect, as we have become the first European company in the sector to use recycled oil or UCO in our bitumen mixes. We are contributing to building a better environment and a better future for the Islands in this respect in two ways: On the one hand, by providing an outlet for polluting waste that has gone from being a problem to being a solution in this way, but also, on the other hand, by making it possible for the Islands to avoid the logistical complications, economic costs and, above all, the polluting emissions that would be caused by having to export the used oil generated in the Canary Islands from the Autonomous Community to other territories for recycling, the only alternative contemplated in the region as a solution for channelling this type of waste before it was incorporated into ADA’s production processes.

In this way, Asfaltos de Arinaga once again confirms its character as a company committed to technological progress and improved productivity, but no less committed to the task of promoting sustainable development, throughout the world, but particularly in its geographical area of action: the Canary Islands Archipelago. We are convinced that this task must be shared by all if it is to truly lead to the achievement of the goals set for humanity as a whole in this area.
